Patricia Lewis

Owner and manager of Monarch Histology Services, LLC, a diagnostic and research histology laboratory in Alachua, Florida since 2016. Patricia Lewis has over thirty-five years’ of experience working in laboratories, hospitals, aquatic marine mammals and manatee pathology. Both clinical, research  establishing routine, special stains, immunohistochemistry and Fluorescence Microscopy. Current member of NSH, (National Society of HistoTechnologist) ASCP, (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) FSH, (Florida State HistoTechnologist) and IAAAM , (International Association of Aquatic Animal Medicine) An accomplished, knowledgeable and national conference speaker, speaking at over 30 conventions, symposiums, annual meetings and webinars, since 1998. Speaking engagements have included topics in histology, pathology, immunohistochemistry and Ocular preparations. Education includes an A.S. in Histologic Technology from Florida State College at Jacksonville, 2006. Florida. HT, ASCP  (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) 1979, licenses supervisor, 2006, Florida State licenses, 1980. Training Histo-Technologist students registered with histology program in need of tissues prep’s., instructions of tissue trimming, staining and sectioning using a microtome. Santa Fe College, Gainesville, Florida. A student completes a 6 week internship a requirement of the program.


Jonathan Cowart

Histologist Contractor is a current doctoral student in the Aquatic Animal Health Program at University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine and independent contractor for Monarch Histology Services, LLC. At the beginning of his doctoral research, Jonathan conducted his research through the research histology lab where he worked under the direct supervision of Patricia Lewis, founder of Monarch Histology Services, LLC, for histological processing, staining, and immunostaining. During this time, Jonathan worked closely with Pat to develop his histological and immunohistochemical skillset and applied this to his research in marine mammal species. Jonathan then worked as the interim laboratory manager for the research histology lab where he was solely responsible for the day-to-day operations. Since contracting for Monarch Histology Services, LLC, Jonathan has worked as the immunohistochemistry specialist on multiple research projects. In conjunction with Monarch’s business philosophy, Jonathan takes great pride in providing the highest quality and most personalized histological and immunohistochemical services to Monarch’s clients.


David Rothstein 

Dr. David Rotstein, is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology who received his DVM from the University of Florida and pathology training at both the University of Florida and North Carolina State University.  He has a Master’s of Preventative Veterinary Medicine from the University of California Davis.  He was previously an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee and. He worked with the National Marine Fisheries Service on marine mammals.  His interests include marine mammals, zoological species, wildlife, and domestic species.

Dr. Rotstein, is available for his services forby evaluating, reviewing and interpreting clinical diagnostics, research, and trial studies., he maintains a deep understanding of the diseases of multiple species. Dr. Rotstein’s broad knowledge and unique qualification, is uniquely qualified to perform clinical his evaluations and knowledge that advances our knowledge of disease pathogenesis and has helped leads to the development of new methods for theto treatment and prevention of diseases.

Karen Kelly

Core source -Scientific Research Manager electron microscopist – Karen maintains a comprehensive knowledge of principles and techniques used in electron microscopic study of biological specimens, to include; specimen preparation, ultramicrotomy, operation of transmission and scanning electron microscopes, knowledge of cell and tissue ultrastructure techniques and instrumentation. Always aware of  advanced techniques and new methodologies.
